Aim of the pilot project
Skanska is involved in several road development projects of the national road network and among others is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of Rv3 / Rv25 Ommangsvollen - Grundset / Basthjørnet (Hedmark). This road project represents a wide range of challenges with regard to stormwater management. The objective of the pilot project is to:
Document the functionality and efficiency of installed stormwater management solutions, including maintenance needs over time.
Model selected sub-catchments and assess flood risk using the recently developed DDD-modelling routine.
Perform comprehensive risk assessment using the proposed risk assessment framework.

Innovation potential
Urban densification, along with climate change, will result in increasing amounts of stormwater that must be handled, while today's stormwater management systems often have limited capacity. The challenges require new tested and documented solutions.
Thus, the innovation potential of the pilot project lies in:
Testing of infiltration solutions over time in terms of both quantity and quality of road surface water, as well as documenting operation and maintenance needs.
Testing of new hydrological models and suitability for predicting floods in small catchments.
Testing of a new framework for risk assessment of small catchments.
